Coach Brandon Wesley, the current Athletic Director for our beloved school, Coral Springs High School, has recently won the Employee of the Year Award.
The Employee of The Year Award and Teacher of the Year Award were both announced at the same time. Both awards recognize a staff member and teacher who gained the most votes from colleagues of Coral Springs High.
The Teacher of the Year award was won by our Agricultural/Animal Science teacher, Ms. Amanda Mortimer. Ms. Mortimer is a great teacher, and she also coaches the girl’s cheerleading team.
An Athletic Director, or AD for short, according to Cloudinary, means, “To assist the principal in supervising the operation of the entire athletic program including the selection and evaluation of coaches.”
When asked who he thinks voted for him for the Employee of the Year, Coach Wesley said, “I hope it was the coaches and athletic staff.” Wesley is beloved and well-known around the school by students, faculty, and parents alike!
“For somebody to recognize your gifts and talents and bring it to fruition, is the best thing that any staff member or employee can be [sic].” Stated Coach Wesley when asked how he feels about winning the award. “It’s an honor.”
Coach Wesley came to Coral Springs HS in 2017, but was familiar with the school while he was at Boyd Anderson High School. Before Coach Wesley was at Springs and Boyd Anderson, he worked at Walker Elementary in Fort Lauderdale. Coach Wesley, although not going to Coral Springs High School, grew up in the area. “It was a transition coming from Boyd Anderson to Coral Springs High.”
The history, culture, community, condition of the school, and student body, are all Coach Wesley’s favorite things about Coral Springs High School. “The neighborhood, [sic] everything that it stands for.”
This is most definitely Coach Wesley’s favorite school, no doubt about it! “Amazing school to be at!”
This is not Coach Wesley’s first school that he is an athletic director, so arriving at Springs, he already had experience. “Before I took over this job, the athletics was already running well, the Athletic Director did a good job.” Claimed Coach Wesley when asked about the school’s athletic program.
“My only job was to put coaches here in a place that I thought was the best fit for the school, student-athletes, and administration.” To end it off with the words used by Coach Wesley, “I just put a different twist on there.”
