To graduate High school in the state of Florida with a High school diploma, students must earn 24 credits and have a GPA (Grade Point Average) on the scale of 2.0 to 4.0 scale.
This matters because a 2.0 GPA what we call as grade point average, is a minimum for graduation from high school and for remaining eligible for federal financial aid. Its also a passing grade and without at least a 2.0 GPA you will not be able to graduate or move to the next grade level.
Academic probation:
If your GPA falls underneath a 2.0 score, you can be placed on academic probation. Academic probation is a temporary status that college gives a student that has not reached their required score to graduate high school. Academic probation is a warning that students’ academic probation is a warning that a student’s academic performance needs to be improved. This is not a punishment, but it is a sign that the student is at risk of being released if they do not improve.
There are different types of Academic probation, including, term, cumulative and departmental.
Does Florida require students to take a citizenship test?:
School students are required to take the Florida Civic Literacy Exam (FCLE) while enrolled in a U.S Government course but, however, high school students who are dually enrolled (including dual enrollment students who are completing the requirements towards an AA degree while in high school.
Community Services:
High school students can participate in community services to get service hours some of these services are:
- Cleaning up a park: Students can pick up trash at a local park.
- Volunteering at a library: Students can shelve books, assist librarians, or work with patrons.
- Adopting a nursing home: Students can connect with residents and staff at nursing homes.
- Sending care packages to the military and first responders: Students can sew a fleece, scarf, or neck gaiter to send in care packages.
- Volunteering with Best Buddies: Students can be matched with a person with intellectual disabilities for a one-to-one friendship.
- Helping your neighbors: Students can ask neighbors how they can help, especially if they’re older or have recently become parents.
To graduate high school you need 40 hours of service hours completed.
