Coral Springs High School has reached a graduation rate of 98%, exemplifying the efforts of the Staff and the past senior class.
When describing the achievement on his Instagram, Principal Dwayne Dixon wrote, “Big news, Colts! Coral Springs High School is celebrating an incredible 98% graduation rate! This achievement reflects the dedication of our students, staff, and community. Together, we’re proving that Colts United can accomplish anything!”
This rate, as described by Dixon, being credited to the whole community of Coral Springs highlights how giving students an environment that gives them a chance to succeed plays a role in their education.

While the CSHS rate improved, neighboring schools were experiencing a rise as well. According to coralspringstalk.com in an article speaking on the graduation rates, it is stated, “Among other area high schools, Coral Glades High School notched a 97.3 percent graduation rate last year, down from 97.9 percent in 2022-2023-. MSD rated its graduation percentage from 98.5 percent
to 99 percent. Taravella recorded a 93.9 percent graduation rate last year, up from 93.5 percent in 2023. “
This shows that most Broward schools are experiencing improvement in graduation rates, but this leaves another question: why do these schools have such high passing rates? When asked this question, 12th grade Mrs. Taylor replied, “I think that the increase- says that the students are aware of the challenges that are ahead of them when it comes to graduation, and the teachers are also aware of the challenges and barriers that students face and both- come prepared to- overcome any barriers students face when it comes to achieving their goals” She also mentions that the staff’s flexibility to adapt to each student’s needs, giving them an equal opportunity for success, plays a role as well.
The high rates may also be due to the incentives the students are given. At Coral Springs High, students are given a certificate for A & B honor roll each quarter, medals and cords for meeting certain requirements during graduation, and celebrations for being outstanding students. These
‘treats’ not only encourage students to be on top of their grades but also go beyond the graduation requirements.
Past student opinions
Whilst the staff’s flexibility and incentive may play a role in whether a student passes, to some, it’s just up to you. When asked of why he believes his class had such a high graduation rate, former 12th grader Rade Crower declared, “It honesty not that hard to graduate, like you pretty much just show up and do the work”
The rate, crower mentions, just shows that people are taking their studies seriously. Some may even be the first in their family to graduate, making it an important achievement. The rate reaching 98% at our school is ultimately a great achievement for our school, and while 99% may be more realistic, let’s go full force towards a 100!
