What is Grad Bash?
Grad Bash is one of the many events that seniors look forward to in their senior year. Besides prom and senior sunrise, Grad Bash is different. Very Different.
Sarah Masse, a senior at Coral Springs High School who went to Grad Bash, defines Grad Bash as “a trip for seniors to catch a break from school and it’s usually at Universal Studios and we have access to the full park for a whole day and we go on any rides we want.”
Every year students from the Florida region are welcome or permitted to go on an exclusive senior-only school trip that takes place in one of the most popular theme parks in the US. Universal.
For those who may not know Universal is a theme park that is popular worldwide, parks in Japan, the US, and Singapore. People from around the world travel to see these parks and experience their thrill. This is one reason it is one of the most favored trips for seniors.
Schools promote the tickets to the students; the tickets include all access to the park including after-hours use of the park as well. With some other things included as well. Specifically, food.
The number of schools that attend grad bash can vary. Depending on these factors: Time of year and popularity.
The time of year is specifically about the weather for the most part, whether it’s too hot, too rainy, or just any poor weather. But it can also be if the dates of Grad Bash interfere with other events that may be specific to a county or school.
Popularity plays a factor because whether the general senior public of a school or a majority wants to go the population numbers at the park during Grad Bash will rise.
Peoples Experiences
Things can go wrong everywhere and Universal is no different, but most reviews seem to say that it was a great experience.
“I had a great time, I spent a lot of time with my friends in particular, and I got to bond with people I didn’t know as well in my grade. I just enjoyed the whole experience,” stated Masse.
She even continues to mention that she even interacted with people from different schools, “I only interacted with them once, when we were all dancing in a circle and I was like looking over dancing with people. It was fun!”
Shanecia Mustfa was another Coral Springs High School senior who had a great time at Grad Bash and interacted with other schools in a different context.
“Grad Bash was like really fun; I was really looking forward to seeing my friends from other schools because there are other schools that go there.” Mustfa continued saying “One of my friends goes to a school two hours away and I was happy that I was able to see her and some other people from our sister schools like Monarch or
“And I got to go on a lot of crazy rides with my friends, which I usually don’t do” Mustfa explained “I didn’t expect myself to go on so many rides because I’m not usually a ride person, but the group I was with wanted to go on like all these crazy rides which I did surprisingly!”
Is Grad Bash Worth it?
Overall, the big question is if Grad Bash is worth it. Going to a park that has rollercoasters with the rest of your senior class comes at a price, and did it meet expectations?
“It was definitely worth it,” stated Mustfa “because I’m not a person who would typically go to theme parks by myself, again I don’t like rides. But I was happy I was able to experience that with my friends.”
Masse stated that she had a great time at Grad Bash and that she would do it again if she could. She stated, “It was definitely all worth it and the time.”
